Garnet Valley's Drew Kravitz is multitalented.
Drew Kravitz has a reputation as the leader of the Garnet Valley defense. The 6-foot-2, 240-pound middle linebacker is a punisher of ballcarriers and fast enough to cover receivers. Of course, that's to be expected of someone who passes the eye test. See him in the grocery store, and you know you're looking at a football player. But look again. There's more to Kravitz than passing the eye test. This senior also sings in Garnet Valley's chorus and male ensemble, is a member of the National Honor Society, carries a 3.3 grade-point average and takes honors courses. The three-year starter also has perspective. To him, football is merely another extracurricular activity. "I'm looking to major in engineering" in college, Kravitz said. "I'm looking for a place right now where I'm able to get a good degree and play football without it interfering too much with my academics." So far, Kravitz is attracting interest from Georgetown University, Stony Brook (N.Y.) and St.

It's about 30 minutes before kick off of the Chick Fil A Bowl where Auburn will be taking on the talented Clemson Tigers. I wanted to give my quick thoughts on why I believe Auburn will win this game. 1. While Clemson has a very strong running game, Auburn has faced the tandem of McFadden & Felix Jones when they played Arkansas earlier in the season & they virtually shut down the Hogs excellent rushing attack. I don't believe the Clemson RB's to be superior to those two so I think that will be a big factor in Auburn's favor. 2. The "mystery" spread option attack. While AU certainly has not had time to install the full package due to the limited amount of practice time allowed since they hired new OC Tony Franklin, I think this unknown element will cause some defensive problems for Clemson.
The Ex-San Diego Padre Chicken Still Rules!!
One of my most favorite pieces of e-mail I receive every year is the Minor League Promotions tracker from a company called Plan B Branding. They basically evaluate the promotions that go on in the minors and show what works and what doesn't. Well, I just got the latest report and here's the data you need to know. Long after "The Baseball Bunch" (my favorite show as a kid after "This Week In Baseball") and the San Diego Padres ditching him, the Famous Chicken was the number one promotion in the minor leagues in 2007. Its appearance at minor league games, on average, increased attendance by 26 percent. That's pretty good when you consider, as the firm reveals, that the Chicken's appearance only cost teams 22 cents per fan. It's also pretty good when you consider that the Chicken is more than 30 years old.
Bulldogs need to do more than throw
NATCHEZ — Natchez coach Lance Reed knows if the Bulldogs are going to be successful in Region 3-5A, they have to be able to run the ball. But once again, that proved to be easier said than done as Natchez rushed for just 63 yards on 28 carries in a 28-14 loss to Meridian Friday night. Reed knows those numbers must change if the Bulldogs (2-3, 0-1) want to make the playoffs. “We really need to pick it up in the running game," Reed said. “That was the backbone of our offense last season and so far this year, it has not lived up to where we want it." The lack of a running game puts more pressure on freshman quarterback Javon Washington, who was forced to throw 41 passes on Friday. He completed 20 of them for 220 yards and an interception.
Schools told 'up your game' by MP
Official statistics show 11 per cent of the borough's pupils are not doing the Government's target of at least two hours' exercise a week. However, the borough fares better than most others in London, with Haringey children ranking joint third in the capital for the time spent doing exercise. .
Lowell is poster boy for Sox success
He was the addendum for acquiring an ace like Josh Beckett for a prospect like Hanley Ramirez. If the Sox didn't have a hole at third base after Bill Mueller's move out west, it might have been the deal breaker.Thank you, Bill Mueller.nnnLowell wonders what the big deal is about the 2007 regular season, when he hit .324, 21 homers and a career high 130 RBIs. It included a fourth trip to the All-Star game.Well, he doesn't wonder, per se, but he wishes people, including baseball people that "know" the game, would accept 2005 for what it was."When somebody screws up everybody is looking for that answer," said Lowell, after yesterday's workout. "They don't want to hear you might have a bad year, when nothing went right. That's not a good enough answer. But in my case, I think it was. I stunk and never got going."Yes, "stunk" is a good description considering the fact he was a three-time All-Star who batted .236 with eight homers and 58 RBI.
