Here are the week sixteen picks for those of you having your championship or semi-final game. Be extra careful this week and next as teams lock up playoff berths and begin to rest regulars. Also, don't forget to check the weather forecast for your QBs and WRs as snow definitely impacted several players last week. QUARTERBACKS Matt Hasselbeck Faces a struggling Ravens pass defense. Derek Anderson Weather permitting, I am all in in my Yahoo league. Eli Manning Loss of Jeremy Shockey won't help. Peyton Manning What!?! Playing time, not ability will be the issue here. RUNNING BACKS Brandon Jacobs Jamal Lewis had 163 yards against the Bills last week. Snow is possible. Brian Westbrook You may not like that he laid down on the one but he did have 144 yards from scrimmage. Shaun Alexander He ruined my season last year; dont let him ruin yours now.

Robson asks for time as fans vent spleen

The neighbours are friendly and the immediate locality attractive but when Bryan Robson ventures out from the sanctuary of his Sheffield town house, Yorkshire's Steel City can seem an unforgiving place. "It's so windy, some days it's really wild out there," joked the former England captain this week after a morning spent putting his Sheffield United players through their paces at the club's exposed, hilltop training ground.

Unfortunately harsh weather rolling in from the Peak District ranks as the least of his concerns right now. No matter that he has made United a tidy profit on transfer dealings since succeeding Neil Warnock last summer or that a team gradually being weaned off their old long-ball game have not yet abandoned hope of an instant return to the Premier League, Robson is deemed "under pressure".

Alberta aims to cut greenhouse gases by half by 2050

Ontario, and the US, are the demand side of the equation. They complian about the price, and then in the same breath espouse ludicrious opinions about how it should be produced. It's like an alcoholic blaming Smirnoff for his addiction.

Calgary has more wind power than any other city in Canada and there are no less than 5 CO2 sequestration projects on-the-go in the province. Ontario's climate plan? Well....there is none. Even if there was it would never be met. Just like McWimpy's plan to close down 3 coal fired powerplants; it will just never happen. Ontario likes to tell others how to act. Their like a crack addicted parent telling their kids not to drink too much coffee. Too funny. Posted 24/01/08 at 3:17 PM EST | Alert an Editor | Link to Comment .

Ontario must pay farmer for poisoned land

But after nearly three years, the government stopped paying for the shipments, forcing the Berendsens to pick up the tab of between $2,500 and $3,000 a month.

The Berendsens gave up on the farm in 1994 and moved to a farm in Chepstow, Ont.

They still own the contaminated property – now abandoned – because nobody wants to buy it, Lindgren said.

"By all accounts, the current condition of the Teviotdale property renders it ... inoperable as a working farm," the judge wrote in her decision.

She also dismissed government suggestions that the farm's problems could be attributed to mismanagement by the Berendsens.

"His (Mr. Berendsen's) farm management practices too on the evidence were unassailable," she wrote.

Ledger family says his death accidental

The Australian-born actor was found face-down and naked at the foot of a bed in a Manhattan apartment Tuesday. Police said there were prescription sleeping pills near Ledger's body.

Ledger's family members faced a throng of journalists in the actor's hometown of Perth in western Australia and read a statement saying his death was purely accidental, though they did not say whether he died of an overdose.

"We, Heath's family, can confirm the very tragic, untimely and accidental passing of our dearly loved son, brother and doting father of Matilda," Ledger's father Kim told reporters. "He was found peacefully asleep in his New York apartment by his housekeeper at 3:30 p.m. U.S. time."

Kim Ledger remembered his 28-year-old son as a "down to earth, generous, kindhearted, life-loving, unselfish individual" who was "extremely inspirational" to those who knew him.

He was the war veteran turned reporter who rose to become a Hollywood ...

George MacDonald Fraser, creator of the much-loved Flashman series of adventure yarns, has died of cancer. He was 82.

Born in Carlisle in 1925, the son of a Scottish doctor and nursing sister, he was a pupil of Carlisle Grammar School, of which he once said: "I performed so indifferently that they decided to send me to Glasgow Academy, where my examination showing was, if anything, worse."

College Basketball: Stanford storms back to beat Arizona State

The Bay Area rivals meet Saturday in Palo Alto.

"I thought our team showed some heart," Stanford coach Tara VanDerveer said. "We showed some toughness, and we stayed together really well. I'm really proud of how we did on the road."

Briann January scored 20 points and Kayli Murphy had 12 rebounds for Arizona State (11-7, 5-2), which lost to No. 8 Cal on Thursday and was swept at home in a Pac-10 weekend series for the first time since January 2003.

"ASU tradition is to win at home," Murphy said. "We almost never lose at home. To do this, we almost shame our tradition."

Six of the Sun Devils' seven losses have come against ranked teams. Coach Charli Turner Thorne said her team needs to show more toughness, especially at the end of games.

More moms get back on the job

These are bigger questions taht will never be answered if the focus is always, only, on women as mothers and work/life balance. This is damaging to fathers too: many would love to spend more time at home with their kids,...and it's damaging, most of all, to kids, who grow up - as I did - barely ever seeing my dad. Wouldn't it be better for them if kids were able to get to know both parents more intimately (where possible, of course. I'm not suggesting that couples should always necessarily stay together; nor am I restricting this to heterosexual couples).

And what, ultimately, is wrong with childcare - by nannies, daycares, other family members? If you think that 'tradition' says the mother doesit, then you've got a warped view of history that doesn't actually accord with reality.
